Hay for Sale!  Three Cedars Farm grows and sells a unique variety of horse hay called Teff, a nutritious substitute for traditional grass hays such as Orchardgrass or Timothy.  Our hay offers the additional benefit of low-sugar and low-starch content, making it ideal for horses that need a diet low in Non-Structural Carbohydrates (NSC) related to laminitis or founder.  Horse hay high in NSC content is believed to contribute to pre-laminitis and more severe conditions  Horses and ponies suffering from laminitis, Cushing's disease and insulin resistance can potentially benefit from Teff hay.

At Three Cedars Farm, we are horse people, too.  We feed our hay to our own horses and boarders year round. Teff hay is great horse hay but can also be fed to other livestock such as alpacas and cattle.  The fine leaves are exceptionally palatable to a wide variety of animals.  Think "Angel Hair" not "Spaghetti".

Our farm is located in southeastern Virginia, an area known for its hot, sometimes dry, summers.  Anyone who has visited Smithfield, Williamsburg or Virginia Beach on a summer vacation will understand.  Incredibly, this is the very same weather that Teff loves.  Extreme drought tolerance and love of heat allow it to grow like crazy!

At Three Cedars Fram, we test our hay for sale at a qualified labratory to ensure the highest quality product and results are posted here.  We have hay for sale year round in most years but check with us for availability.
